There are places you visit. And then there are places that make everything familiar feel very far away.
Somewhere in the hills of Nagaland, the crowds disappear. The familiar landmarks are gone.
What remains is a narrow trail disappearing into the hills, clouds moving slowly across the valley, and a landscape stretching further than the eye can follow.
With every step, the world we had left behind seemed a little further away. The noise faded. The pace slowed. And there was nothing asking us to hurry towards what came next.
For a while, we stopped looking for it.
We simply walked. Through the hills. Beneath the clouds. Into a landscape that seemed to exist entirely on its own terms.
Perhaps that is what makes certain places feel different.
It isn’t only the landscape. It is the distance they create from everything familiar.
A place where the outside world feels far away enough for you to notice where you are.
To slow down. To look around. And simply be there.
Because sometimes, the most memorable journeys aren’t about discovering what lies ahead.
They are about becoming completely present in where you already are.
